A vast expanse of water along the border with Bolivia in southeast Peru, ocean-like Lake Titicaca is the world’s highest navigable lake at 12,500 feet. Its deep waters, coveted and conquered by the Incas and the Spanish, seem to meld with the deep blue of the sky, fringed by the snow-capped Andes. Your base for exploring its islands, waters, and Quechua and Aymara villages, is an intimate, luxurious lakeside lodge, with myriad inclusive activities and meals. An incredible collection of active adventures awaits: boat excursions to floating reed islands and Incan ruins, a home visit to a legendary weaving island, kayaking, birding, and sailing the lake’s crystalline waters, and walking or biking its shores, past villages and farmed terraces, immersed in Peru’s rural altiplano culture throughout.
