Day 1

Dubrovnik

Ronald Brown Pathway guided walk, easy to moderate, varied mileage options

Upon meeting your guide in the lobby of the Grand Villa Argentina, you transfer to the countryside outside Dubrovnik, towards the town of Cavtat to walk along the newly laid-out Ronald Brown Pathway in the Konavle Valley, named for the U.S. Secretary of Commerce who was in the tragic airplane crash of a trade mission here in 1996. The trail rising to Stražišce peak at around 2,200 feet provides beautiful views over the valley, the nearby Župa Bay, and open sea with islands and Dubrovnik’s old town in the distance. The walk’s mileage can be easily tailored, taking in the area’s rich flora and fauna, including lizards, birds, and endemic plant species.

You return to your seaside resort hotel in the early evening before enjoying a night either relaxing at your hotel or strolling and dining in Dubrovnik.

Grand Villa Argentina

Dubrovnik, Croatia

A seaside luxury hotel located within walking distance of Dubrovnik’s historic center is set in lush terraced gardens leading down to its private beach; also with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and spa with sauna, whirlpool, and treatments. Comfortable guest rooms with sea views and three restaurants, including one on its private beach.

Day 2

Dubrovnik

Sea kayaking to Zaton Bay; 3 miles total kayaking, optional swimming and snorkeling

After breakfast overlooking the sea, you make your way the short distance to Dubrovnik’s old town where you meet your small group for a sea kayaking adventure. (The meeting time is 9:00 am and a map indicating the location of the sea kayaking outfitter will be provided by your guide on day 1.) With instruction and safety guidelines, you paddle the waters around the ancient walls encircling Dubrovnik, eventually reaching tranquil Zaton Bay. Your excursion reveals an old stone mill fed by underground springs and lovely aristocratic villas that date from Dubrovnik’s Renaissance. Where the bay meets the open sea, you are rewarded with views of the nearby Elafiti Islands and a rugged coastline of towering cliffs and caves. Paddle to a private cove camouflaged by coastal cliffs—the perfect spot to swim, snorkel, or relax on the beach. One of the small coastal villages is a welcome lunch or drink stop before getting back in the kayaks and paddling back across the turquoise waters to Dubrovnik.

The remainder of the afternoon and evening are yours to continue your explorations of Dubrovnik, perhaps a final walk along the city walls, or to enjoy your hotel’s amenities with a spa treatment or swim.
