No description, no matter how vivid, can prepare you for the reality of Victoria Falls. Natives call it “the smoke that thunders.” Geologists call it “the greatest-known curtain of falling water,” and “Seventh Wonder of the Natural World.” The majestic Zambezi River sends more than 500 million cubic meters of water per minute plummeting over the edge of this massive gorge, over a width of one and a quarter miles, and over 330 feet deep.
The falls transform the placid Zambezi into a ferocious torrent exploding into clouds of spray seen from miles away. Yet thanks to its remote location, the surrounding wilderness is peaceful and pristine. There is so much to explore here that this special Safari Spotlight has been created in a way that enables you to shape your own experience. For three days and two nights, the wild beauty of Victoria Falls is yours to enjoy on your own, highly personal safari. Outings and activities range from adrenaline-pumping adventures to moments of quiet contemplation.
Additional Activities (at own expense): At the lodge and its nearby surroundings, enjoy guided birding and tree walks; cultural village walk or cycling trip on unique Zambian Bamboo Bikes; sunset river cruises with sundowners; dugout canoe trips with your private paddler/guide; massage and other spa treatments using locally sourced, natural healing materials.
Other outings can be arranged for your pleasure, such as: helicopter flights over Victoria Falls, white-water rafting, elephant-back safaris, trips to Livingstone Island, trips to Livingstone Museum, ultralight flights, fishing, rappelling, and bungee jumping.
Tours of the nearby national parks can also be arranged: Mosi Oa Tunya National Park—encounter all of Zambia’s plains game, rhino, elephant, giraffe, just minutes from Victoria Falls, or Chobe National Park—home to the mighty Chobe River and possibly the world’s largest elephant population.
